The abrupt NE shift caught the Samaras crew, Bettis crew, and Reed Timmer's Dominator all off guard. The Bettis crew had their truck flattened; Reed lost his hood; and, unfortunately, Tim's crew all passed.

Now what caused that shift is cause for discussion, but in any case, it was all bad news. I have seen all 5 seasons of Storm Chasers and I was always impressed by Tim's cautious drive,  mechanical ingenuity, and desire to inform tornado research from multiple angles. It's really too bad.

RIP Tim and crew.
