Your roads might get washed out eventually, but at least your house is much higher and well built. That should certainly help with insurance and if you ever wanted to sell. It seems like you made some good decisions building so much higher.

Of course you would always have to evacuate since getting out would always be a problem since the roads are very low. I have that problem in my neighborhood. Weak to moderate tropical storms flood the only way out of my neighborhood to the extent that ordinary cars would get the engine flooded leaving. (Last year that happened to a lot of cars in my neighborhood.) That means for any hurricane I would have no choice but to evacuate.

I wish my neighborhood had stilts or for dome homes to be allowed. I would not rebuild here, but it would be nice if people had that option when building. There are a few where the garage is the lowest part of the home and the rest of the first story is perhaps half a story higher, but I don't think there are any homes where the first floor is entirely the garage only. There is at least one new house in my neighborhood that is actually built with steel, although it is still probably only half a story higher, so as with everyone else, flooding is still a great risk.
