A few minutes before the 11pm advisory.
Air Force recon through 10:47pm EDT. Satellite image as of 10:15pm EDT.
They have been looking for some west winds for quite awhile now.

They had just made a pass before this and did not find any at flight level. They dropped a sonde at 10:01pm EDT on the last pass which did not find west winds at the surface. (That is the sonde on this image; the previous track pass is not included because it made it hard to see the most recent pass.) There is no sonde that I see from that last pass though, so whether there is a closed circulation at the surface is still uncertain. (The plane is around 5,250 feet. Around 850mb.) |
