some cities and counties use snow melters - mega-tons of snow an hour can be melted, then the water goes through their sewer systems. It still needs to be hauled to the melter location though, unless they have smaller, mobile versions also.

I hope people don't assume travel to work is ok when they wake up in the morning, only to get stuck later on & not be able to get home. I'm always amazed at how many people get stuck in their cars even after it's plastered all over the news in advance
