And it's a damn shame. Below is the Standardized Precipitation Index released monthly by the Caribbean Regional Climate Centre. The darker reds indicate extreme drought. It depicts conditions the CRCC characterizes as "exceptionally dry" in Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles, particularly Guadalupe, Antigua, Barbuda, and surrounding islands. This part of the world desperately needs the rain Danny would have delivered had the shear not begun ripping those cloud tops to shreds today. Terrible blow for people counting on rain to ease their plight.
