Hi all:
Lou Romig back on the boards, now in St Pete instead of Miami. I also thought the declaration is premature but consider two factors:
1) We've had no tropical storms or hurricanes in the state since (I think) 2005 and there's probably tremendous apathy on the part of the public. A declaration may make some folks take the threat(s) more seriously not only for this storm but also for anything else that might crop up this season.
2) We've got ground saturation in many areas of the state that have already experienced and continue to experience prolonged flooding due to heavy/frequent summer storms. Another heavy rain event will have really significant consequences.
I just got my standby generator installed at the new house in St Pete and have all the usual preps in place. Hopefully the new generator will throw out the same protective force field for Tampa Bay that the old one did for Miami! :-) |
