Natural gas began leaking from a well on Oct. 23 at Southern California Gas Co.'s storage facility in Aliso Canyon in the Santa Susana Mountains. Nearly 300 residents have been relocated due to the rotten egg-like odors caused by mercaptans, an additive to natural gas so that it can be detected. Residents have reported symptoms of headaches, dizziness, nosebleeds, stomach discomfort and respiratory problems.
Sempra Energy's Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) on Tuesday told local elected officials and nearby residents that it will take up to four more months to plug a gas storage well leak that began Oct. 23
