Something I wrote for Facebook tonight on the various storms...



11pm EDT on Wednesday:

#Hermine continues to strengthen. A hurricane warning has been issued for a portion of the Florida Gulf coast. "On the forecast track, the center will be near the coast in the warning area Thursday night."

Elsewhere in the Atlantic, tropical storm conditions are possible over portions of the Azores Friday, where a tropical storm watch is in effect for #Gaston.

5pm HST / 11pm EDT on Wednesday:

In the Central Pacific, #Madeline is passing south of the Big Island of Hawaii where a tropical storm warning remains in effect. "Numerous observing sites [on the Big Island] have been reporting tropical storm force gusts today." Maui "also remains under a tropical storm warning, as winds will be accelerated over and around mountainous terrain tonight".

Also in the Central Pacific, Hurricane #Lester is "continuing to move westward toward the main Hawaiian Islands". "A note of caution, despite the consistent track forecast showing Lester passing just northeast of the islands, it must be pointed out that there are plausible solutions within the margin of error that show direct impacts to the main Hawaiian Islands. This possibility must be considered for planning preparations over the next couple of days."
