The right kind of wind kept it pretty in check. It could be a hurricane before landfall despite the shear that continues to persist. Since the shear has persisted so far, it looks like some of the effects could be felt further east than some people probably anticipated.

At least my area got a break from a lot of the rain this morning. Soon to change though.
