Our road had a long and unfortunate history. When houses were first built down here it was just a dirt road, a trail in the sand. Then in about 1960 the governor bought a house here and had the road paved by the state as a state road, way too close to the Gulf. After he left office the state abandoned the road to the county who pretty much just does a minimal job of reconstruction after every storm, and over time as the beach has eroded in front of it things get worse with each storm.
The Live Storms Media guys shot a lot of footage here the evening before the storm came in, mostly on the road, its on Youtube now, for example see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i73YY2wpF_A |
