Twelve even before Matthew, and its related impacts, is counted. Second highest on record. 2011 had 16.
A lot of great mapping and charting on that site, to see where and what events occur.
I noticed there are no drought, wildfire or winter storms listed for the year. I'm not sure how they would measure drought and wildfire. Drought could be very prolonged. Wildfires too. In 2011 they have them listed over two seasons:
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona Wildfires Summer-Fall 2011
Southern Plains/Southwest Drought & Heat Wave Spring-Summer 2011
Perhaps they have not been as bad this year or more spread out. We could still see a winter storm, but more likely it would be next year. |
