And it remains strong. Highest estimated 10 second surface wind from SFMR instrument that was not suspect was 156 kts (179.5 mph) at 12:23:00pm EDT.
Just in case someone is going over raw obs, a suspect reading was 172 knots (197.9 mph) from SFMR right after that. That point is over a small island and the SFMR does not work on land. That 180 mph estimate was well over water. |
