I'm good. I've been reading everything. Been really busy working on tropical stuff and haven't posted unless something more significant develops. So much stuff I have to work on over the next several months especially. Everything should eventually work in the end.

The server I am on is old and my host doesn't seem to want to make changes to it. There is some software that needs to be upgraded for me to be able to download from the NHC's recon archive as a backup. That doesn't seem like it will happen, so I am going to have to download it through HurricaneCity instead. The NHC site now uses https and uses a version that my site can't communicate with. I can get it working at HurricaneCity, so my site will have to get it that way unless I switch to a new server which would cost more, maybe a lot more, and might not even give me the other features I had. So I don't want to make a switch to a new server unless it becomes essential.

There are some other issues. Google Maps is going to start charging sometime next month if you go over a certain amount of map loads. I think the changes shouldn't have an impact unless there is a major storm. But by then, I will have switched enough mapping to ArcGIS so that I shouldn't have a problem. I'm not going to add billing info, so if there ever was a problem with going over the limit, Google Maps would just shut off rather than start charging.

There are various other issues involving satellite imagery in the recon and model displays, like issues with the recon display scrolling to the bottom when you choose a layer. I need to rewrite that display and allow better options for choosing satellite imagery. And so that you can see the time of the imagery. I need to finish a rewrite of layout for the recon and model systems, which itself will take months. Need to rewrite the NOAA P-3 radar feature in case there are changes that I need to adapt to and so that it saves less files. They upgraded the radar and I don't know for sure if the old system will work to download data. By 2020 I need to rewrite the charting in the model and recon systems to not use Flash as that will no longer be updated by the company that makes it and will essentially end. (it's already very much on the decline) There's a lot of other things I'm working on too in the recon and model systems. And eventually there will be other things I work on too, including maybe advisory data in the coming years. At this point I need to get the model and recon systems to all be the same. I have different versions and it gets harder and harder to update things when they go wrong. I have the offline version that I use when I am rewriting the model and recon systems and then the online versions I have on my site, HurricaneCity and MyFoxHurricane. I need to get the systems so that they are the same and can be easily updated when something goes wrong. But It will take much of the year to get them that way. Then at that point I am going to make sure I fix one thing at a time when it breaks or I am upgrading something. There might be a dozen things that need to be fixed and I can't easily release all the fixes/improvements until they are all done. One thing at a time for now on.
