I don't usually mention these when they have such a low chance, this one with a 10% chance as of posting this of developing into a tropical cyclone within 5 days, but the area of potential tropical cyclone development is on our side of the Atlantic even though it is currently just exiting Africa.

Maybe that has happened before and I don't recall, it just seems like a really big distance between the wave and its potential formation area.
"Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 PM EDT Thu Aug 23 2018
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa early Friday and then move quickly westward at about 20 mph. No development is expected during the next few days, but environmental conditions could become a little more conducive for some development of the wave early next week while it crosses the west-central tropical Atlantic Ocean. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.
Forecaster Zelinsky"
First mention of this wave was at 2pm Wednesday.
GFS and Euro don't currently show development, at least in recent runs.
