Katrina created a mandatory evacuation of Pensacola Beach for fear of storm surge as it passed by well to our south in the Gulf, heading, of course, for the infamous NOLA landfall. No harm done here, other than any months or years of our lives erased by the severe stress and strain of evac preps. It's an awful thing. Yes, better than an Ivan-type destruction, but still awful. As much as I love living near the sea, I think we're getting too old for this.
