Florence - Isabel Comparo

Flos track is anomalous. Reviewing recent data, I can find only 2003s Isabel as having a similar history. Both were spawned near Cabo Verde in early September and followed a northwesterly track until the 50W meridian, where they were steered westerly (current Flo heading) for several days by a strong high ridge to the north. Isabel spent eight days of her career (from 42W to 71W) as a major hurricane. The current Florence forecast and the northwesterly track of Isabel are very similar; Isabel came ashore at Cape Lookout, NC as a category 2. An interesting narrative article of Isabel by Mark Sudduth is here: http://hurricanetrack.com/isabel2003.html. |
