The tornado threat in the Carolinas w/ #Florence might be higher than we're normally accustomed to seeing w/ landfalling TCs. #Florence's larger & more intense wind field increases low-lvl shear over a larger area favoring more tornadoes. See McCaul (1991) journals.ametsoc.org
