I should note about the recon that the 10 second surface wind estimate had winds of 120 and 121 mph. Readings are taken every 30 seconds and those two were next to each other. So recon confirms the advisory winds.

At 6:15pm EDT a sonde measured a surface pressure of 955mb with 16 knots of surface wind. So the pressure was about 953 or 954mb at the time.

At 6:12pm EDT a sonde measured momentary winds of 143 mph at the surface. These are not 1 minute sustained winds. The sonde is falling from the plane to the ocean surface so it's a momentary wind.

From that sonde:

Average Wind Over Lowest Available 150 geopotential meters (gpm) of the sounding:
- Lowest 150m: 155 gpm - 5 gpm (509 geo. feet - 16 geo. feet)
- Wind Direction: 75 (from the ENE)
- Wind Speed: 112 knots (129 mph)

Mean Boundary Level Wind (mean wind in the lowest 500 geopotential meters of the sounding):
- Wind Direction: 80 (from the E)
- Wind Speed: 124 knots (143 mph)
