Hey Pretty,

It's a rumor. No tornadoes in Pensacola nor on Pensacola Beach (a completely different locality, where I live).

Our area has had whistling, gusty wind and rainy conditions all day (now mostly wind), but not even reaching sustained tropical storm force. (Winds in neighboring Santa Rosa County to our east were higher, with a couple of bridge closings including the Navarre Beach Causeway- but not here.)

There was minor flooding in a few areas on PBeach (can't speak for mainland Pensacola but doubt there was much). I didn't see anyplace where dunes were breached. Really more flooding along the Sound at Quietwater Beach than on the Gulf side. Nothing serious in any case, and the only roads closed that I know of were through the Gulf Islands National Seashore on either end of the beach (toward Fort Pickens on the west , and toward Navarre Beach on the east), plus maybe a road or two in mainland Pensacola due to downed trees.

We had an evacuation order on Pensacola Beach but many if not most ignored it (including moi), since storm surge was not expected to be a significant, life- threatening factor -- and in fact was not. We've not even lost power so far.

A couple of beach hotels closed in deference to the evac order, but most didn't -- and the ones that stayed open are packed with evacuees from the devastated areas to our east. (SO sad.)

Bottom line: We'll be back to normal business tomorrow; this was nothing but a routine tropical storm-type situation here, much ado about not very much. We were very, very fortunate to have dodged that bullet. This time.

Hope that helps. Any questions, feel free to ask.
