In the East Pacific, Xavier is the first "X" named storm there since 1992

From 11pm EDT discussion Friday night:

"For the 22nd time this year, a tropical storm (Xavier) has formed
over the eastern North Pacific. The most recent intensity estimates
from TAFB and the UW-CIMSS SATCON support increasing the initial
intensity to 35 kt. Xavier is the first tropical storm to reach the
"X" name on the East Pacific namelist since 1992."

1992 East and Central Pacific hurricane season:

That was the busiest year and the names went all the way to "Z" (Zeke). All the tropical storms, or higher, ended by the end of October that year.

This seems to be only the third time the "X" name has been reached on record there. If there is a "Y" storm by the end of the season, it seems like it would only be the second time on record for that letter, after 1992. We're using the same list as 1992 this year, so the names this year are also Xavier and if needed, Yolanda and Zeke.

Don't forget to set your clocks back tonight, if you're in an area that does it!
