I watch WFLA (NBC) here locally each day in Tampa. They are really good. All the stations locally are usually pretty good with their local coverage. I've never seen any of them do some of the things I see other local markets pull.
The national news can be a bit over-the-top. When it comes to NBC's national news coverage for other types of weather, they like to highlight how many tens of millions of people are in the path of a particular storm system and it kind of gets old after awhile. I can't think of the particular instances, but in the past few months there seems like there has been some instances that I thought they were hyping too much. I get it's harder to cover all the severe weather across the country in about 30 seconds or a minute, but I wish they expanded it more. They do some stories on it from reporters and then a meteorologist, or their weather person, quickly has maybe even less than 30 seconds, to talk about the meteorology of it, which is often the most important. |
