Unfortunately this is going to be going on for awhile. We'll need to see more about what is going on in the Southern Hemisphere, but it is spreading there so far. We'll have to see if it spreads as much as it is in the Northern.
There isn't going to be a good plan for hurricane season. For those with cars, drive away maybe if you don't know someone nearby that is willing to house you. Sleep in your car out of state. I suppose there would be shelters, but it would be at your own risk. I worry about what medical supplies we'll have. People would need to take great care in shelters, but disinfecting products may not be easily available by then. So many unknowns.
We don't know how easily you can get this again if you get it a first time. (Most of the doctors I have seen asked about this seem to think at some point you probably can, but they don't know how long you might have some kind of possible immunity.) That's one of the uncertainties that remain. People might get it again. Even if we did see a reduction in cases during the summer, by winter, we could see a lot more by the end of hurricane season.
I hope you were able to get enough supplies. I'm going to try to avoid people as much as possible and only going out when I need more food. I don't want to put at risk the older people I know, some with conditions that make them at high risk. |
