Sorry to hear about the damage. I figured you lost power and hoped that was the worst of it. It's definitely best not to take a chance on the roof. If we ever had issues like that we would find someone licensed that has insurance to have do everything. (don't want them to sue you for something frivolous) And pay after they are done. Obviously you've had to go through all that in the past too. I know in the past we've had issues with contractors not doing what they are supposed to do for repairs, not related to storms. We have a high deductible too. Best to take pictures of everything and if it really doesn't seem like it will be above it, I guess do it without the insurance company. If there is a chance it could be more though, I guess a call into them wouldn't hurt. If it did cost above the deductible and you didn't get approval first, you know insurance definitely wouldn't pay, but maybe you know it is definitely lower.

I had heard about the bridge damage, seen some pictures and thought I had seen some video, but I had not seen anything close to that video you posted. That is going to take a considerable amount of time. I guess that is too big of a stretch of bridge to have things in the water to try to protect the structure. Too expensive. I guess the things I am thinking about are more for around where boats pass under a bridge, you have things to absorb the hit if a boat hits. The Sunshine Skyway bridge here in Tampa has that because in 1980 a boat hit it and the old bridge collapsed. But we have three causeways across Tampa Bay that are very long and they don't have that kind of protection along it.

I'll leave the post here. I have no automatic move function in the forum. It has to be done manually and there's a lot of things that have to be updated carefully to do that.
