Desoto County school closure

Just announced:

Early release tomorrow (Wednesday), schools and offices closed Thursday, open again on Friday.

While we may not be in the direct line of fire, as far as the projected path currently shows, and despite that it is predicted to be a Cat 1 or lower, our county suffered pretty badly from Ian. Some roads are still in disrepair or completely inaccessible, and not all of the debris has been picked up. High winds are enough to keep school buses off the roads...flying debris makes it worse. We've not yet dried out completely from the flooding, either.

I am glad and impressed that our superintendent has made this call. We've missed a lot of school already (the high school just reopened due to the massive damage), and it breaks my heart for the seniors, especially, (they've not had a "normal school year since middle school). Far better safe than sorry, though.

Those of you in the path of this new threat, no matter how mild a threat by comparison, please be safe. Here we go again, folks.
