It's one of the most hit areas in the Atlantic somehow. Top 5 for overall impacts and very close number 2 for hurricane hits.

Though it seems they don't get hit as often by major hurricanes. The island has had to build strong so they usually seem to do pretty well.
It is amazing that they seem to get hit that often. Sure, storms curve, but there's a lot of paths they can take that aren't near them. I guess there are just so many re-curvatures. I guess if you took any random spot in the general vicinity out there maybe that would be impacted about as much.
The models seemed to do pretty good in saying it would be in the vicinity of around Bermuda. They didn't get surprised by it.
Now we'll see how close it gets to southeastern Newfoundland, where the NHC says watches might be issued Sunday morning. |
