I guess I should mention that there is a mini high tide earlier:
Friday at 1:42am EDT there is a mini high tide of -0.363 feet. (using MHHW datum)
I am paying attention to the high tides obviously, but might like the timing of the low tide if that works out.
The water level is not going to go down quickly. It's not like the storm passes your latitude and that's it for the areas south of the storm. It's still going to be piling water into the west coast of Florida for awhile. The wind will become calmer and the surge will rise more and more. There's a lot of uncertainties, but I just wanted to get a general idea of things. If you're in path where landfall is currently forecast, or anywhere near it, you will experience life-threatening dangerous surge. Get out. But I'm just kind of getting an idea of what it might be like around me to determine if I perhaps head to a parking garage nearby if the wind isn't too bad but the surge could be. And if the storm started veering closer earlier on, I would just drive out of the surge zone and head east early enough to get somewhere inland. |
