Thanks a lot for your input Aqua. We have greatly increased life expectancy and our ability to deal with severe medical conditions in the last 30 years. But much of this depends on access to medication or technology, which in the aftermath of a hurricane can be sorely lacking for several weeks. The impact that hurricanes can have on all aspects of life is usually not reckoned with until after the fact. La. has been severely affected by these storms in recent years, receiving serious effects from Lilli, Katrina, Rita, and Ike. It really is a bleak and depressing situation after the passage of an important storm, and unfortunately it can also be one of despair too.
