A severe weather parameter.

It is also watched during hurricanes and indicates how unstable the mid and upper atmosphere is.

The more the negative number, the more unstable the air is.

In general, convection intensifies, either in a MCS or TC, when LI is -5 or lower.  -10 is very unstable.  I have never seen -14 before.
