People would die more in other areas that were not as badly impacted with the quake. They'd die from mudslides... flooding.
In most places though there would be warning and a chance to take cover...hide prepare...something. Haiti is itself problematic for lack of organized govt and lack of strong building codes but believe for port au prince this is the worst of two evils.
Even a 6.0 would have caused substantial calamity.
When was last time port au prince took on a cat 5 directly? |
