In Academic circles rarely are threats put into print but said in meetings. And, in the world of Academia most of it is meetings vs teaching.

If a school felt in any way threatened they would put pressure on anyone to be quiet or go with the program.

After spending the last 3 years in the world of Academia I've seen things I would never have believed otherwise. It's an alternative universe and everyone has to be a team player.

Personalities aside...and there may have been much more going on... there are threats and nasty comments and egos ...

People think Private Institutions are easier and they may be but there also you have to be careful.

A State Academic Institution... eww...

On the other hand I loved working with students and on projects and enjoyed the benefits but it's people will do anything to keep "their good government job" a term I heard whispered all the time before going to work at the College.

I blogged on it yesterday... it's an interesting story to watch.

Either way often the person giving the bad news or giving his commentary is killed off like in a Soap Opera.

He was a very respected voice... they obviously preferred he not voice his thoughts.
