I had never heard of that eruption before. At least the current one is only a nuisance in comparison. (a couple hundred million per day for the airlines plus, or minus for extra hotel bookings, passenger costs of missing flights)

I am still thinking back though to last month when there were people standing right next to the little vent spewing lava and taking pictures. With a history of volcanoes on the island that significant, you think people would have been a tad more careful.
