This happens a lot with stationary storms. Instead of movement we get the illusion of movement. Once it finds a steering current again it will resume a path close to the forecast track. A lot of stationary storms that I've watched over the years aren't "stationary" in the sense we know it--they wobble around in place rather than sit still, and it's really tempting to mistake those wobbles for the general direction of the storm (a trap I've fallen for many times myself!) |
