Actually, the data only supports 100 mph. (SFMR at 85 knots which is ~ 97.7 mph) And the SFMR is only a 10 second estimate anyways. Buth there could be some higher winds out there. The winds just seem to have not caught up yet. Large size and lower pressure around the region are reasons I have heard.
That is why this year the scale is emphasized as being for wind only. |
