My dad recalls Alma & a 44 cane in particular when he was really young..Also some weak canes & TS's that they call "platanero" storms because they were only strong enough to knock over "Plantain" (banana) trees..He's told me of hearing the wind howling viciously  & the impression that made on him..Batabano is a small city south of Havana on the south coast of Cuba so he witnessed the damage of storm surge there, boats scattered about & stuff..its all kinda blurry right now, I need him to refresh my memory on some of his tales from past Cuban storms..I think I remember him telling me a story about many folks who lost their lives near where he lived when coming outside in the eye of one of these storms, think it was the 44 one..the same thing that happened here in Miami in 26.
