GOM: OK For Now But???

95L has been trying to spin up but subsidence, aka sinking air has been inhibiting convection.

Luckily the surface low has been hanging above the stationary front in air that has positive LIs.

However I am worried that the wave in the mid Carib could spin up in the west Carib and shoot the Channel.

Excellent development conditions for it and the Midwest ridge is moving out with a forecast steady 500mb flow.

Air will be destabilzing in the Midwest and yet unforeseen shortwaves could influence track down the road.

Bottom line is that there is a  realistic chance for steering into the GOM next week.

Need to keep an eye on what CMC has been showing for the past few runs.
