Re: GOM: OK For Now But???

I am always hesitant to go by the CMC for a glimpse into the tropical future because it continues to be by far the most aggressive model. Last run I looked at earlier this morning seemed to spin up at least four separate systems at once, including two off the eastern seaboard.

I do see suggestions about GOM development sometime over the current forecast period though which lends it more credibility IMO.

A lot of conditions need to clear out of the GOM first though--lots of dry air, shear and stalled trough issues to deal with. It is not a terribly favorable environment at the moment, as we're seeing with 95L which appears to have a surface low but is getting choked to death and battling shear.
