Beachlover posted a link to an article about that earlier :(  I think the "anonymous" admin official who gave the press that story said that a seep and a possible methane leak near the well were spotted.  Some of the articles I read are going like this (my take & summary on them):

Admin: BP's not doing enough to provide coverage and search for leaks - if at all possible the well bore is compromised (as also suggested by lower than expected pressure readings), they prefer it's piped up to ships at the surface,relieving pressure on the well - but it would leave oil flowing freely for approx 3 days - they find that preferable to a possible well bore catastophe that might not have a fix, before or after 3 days

BP: keep it capped until the relief well can pump in heavy mud & then cement it

SNAFU # 101...

I think pretty much all the media outlets are now reporting on it in some way or another
