This really is one of the most complicated water vapor/set ups I've seen in a while...and you have to give the NHC credit to try and provide us with the best, most probable path while knowing that it affects sooo many people and someone somewhere will be upset with the discussion.
This really is a messy, fluid, mesmerizing loop .... and I would not have to be the team who has to put together a forecast that both warns but does not hype or go out on a limb... for the many people in Earl's possible path and yet at the same time not want to give the illusion that it will for sure stay off shore because it's hard to tell when the storm is sitting just off the coast of DR and in 2 days time it could be in NJ... or getting close.
Timing is everything...
