& I didn't mean to sound like it wasn't bad anywhere, I apologize. My relief at a track change (leaving Cypress ok) came with another area getting slammed (Beaumont & others) & Rita was absolutely horrible. I have friends that either live or hunt/fish in that area & was very relieved when, after almost 2 weeks, one girl replied to an email of mine saying their family was unhurt, though their home & places of employment suffered great damage.

Houston had over 1/4 million evacuees from Katrina & that kept the headlines well after Rita came & went. You are right, Rita did get rather swept under the rug by many media sources.

HC was a great source of information and comfort then, and many times since that.
