Got Rain? More ahead?

Just the day before yesterday I was commenting to my father on how shriveled the leaves were on the trees out front; and how the drought was really ramping up here in eastern N.C.
Well....so much for that.
After a few scattered sprinkles yesterday, more noticeable but still scattered rains began around 8pm. Off and on rain with occasional thunder punctuated the overnight hours. Come daylight this morning, the rain began falling in earnest; in the form of off-and-on deluges.
Am finally getting a respite from all this; after 5 inches of rain in just the past 5 hours. Whew! (And yes, the little creek out front is overflowing; and the pond is full up.)
But the big question is: "is this the main serving or an appetizer before a tropical nor'easter on Thursday?"
