10" possible as Nicole moves over appalachians ... latest update

Tuesday evening update:

The approximate center of TD16 is currently located south of Cuba and is expected to move directly over the island near Havana. We will likely have TD16 transition into Nicole by later tonight and most models and my gut have the center moving directly over southern Florida. Now , this is not the time to rush to to the supermarkets and sell out Stop And Shop in fear of another Andrew. The truth is , most of the wind speeds of Nicole when she passes through the southeast coast on Wednesday will be to the east of the center sparing most of Florida of the 50mph+ gusts. Heavy rain appears to be the main threat but Nicole is moving fast enough that no more than 2-4" will fall across the " hardest  hit " areas of southeast Florida. As she moves north , she will gain speed and become extratropical before making landfall in SC or southern NC. All indications point to a weak storm at her second landfall ....  To read full story click here
