I got this email from friend, friends family is in St Luca.

No damage even the cat that had disappeared came back after the worst had passed.  But there was quite a bit of destruction it slowed to a crawl at about 8-9mph and dumped 1/2 a meter of water on the island as it sat over them.  Bridges were undermined and washed away.  Landslides, some with homes on them.  Twelve dead in the south where it was worse. The north was cut off from the middle which in turn was cutoff from the south some areas accessible only by boat.  The international airport in the south is accessible only by boat as most of the hotels are in the north.  Towns flooded leaving a layer of mud behind.  Right now they are picking up the pieces but the large pipes to the dam that provided drinking water are damaged and so there is no water.  A lot of people have water tanks but not all.  So the mud stays since there is no water with which to wash it away.  They will have to wait for some rain which is coming at them within the next day or so.  Haiti is the next stop for Tomas.  The death toll is going to be high as they're still in tents.  You can't do a Cat 1 in a tent.

Here is a link with some more pictures.
