Re: Was there a warning posted or was it assumed the 7.2 on 3/9 was the biggie?

On a science board, those who understand science well and apply the scientific method of critical thinking to what they read - are highly capable of determining fact from fiction.

Those with little knowledge of science but with highly-developed critical thinking skills can still fairly well discern reality from fantasy.

But those who fail to regularly apply the scientific method of thinking, no matter what their knowledge of science will often be open to wild new ideas, conspiracies, pseudo science, etc.
(There are many people out there who are very knowledgeable yet horrible thinkers.)

Believing in something because it's cool, or it pleases us (which many people do), is not the way to learn about the real world.

Of course there are trolls on the internet but the level of trolling is inversely proportional to the intellect level of a board. Conspiracy boards? Lots of trolling. Pseudo-science boards? Lots of trolling. What else would one expect? Heavy-duty science boards and intellectual boards? None.
Most boards lie somewhere in-between.

I've been on the net for about 15 years and of the boards I've ever posted on, trolls are few and far between. Being an argumentative or challenging poster does not make one a troll. Trolls are, in time, easy to spot; they troll with intent and derive pleasure from it.

If I wanted to troll the internet, there's a vast array of sites where I could surely have a blast; but the fact is; I've neither the interest nor the energy. And based on my experience, I'd say there are no trolls currently posting here. Any troll-like post I make is due to extreme frustration; not intentional trolling. I think most can easily see that.
