As it seems to be a big topic tonight on Jim's show... mine you I spoke in detail to Jim Lushine on this theory during the year of Irene (1999) as it was a very WET year...
The theory applies to major storms that come in from the East around a strong high, not those wet soakers that Florida gets in October out of the Caribbean.
Mind you... down here we really only think of those big Cape Verde Storms that get steered in by the strong high that steers them right into South Florida
