Actually after the Katrina flooding incident, Jacksonville posted up posts around the area for the type of coastal flooding that would occur at each Cat stage of a hurricane on the post.  When I saw that even 50 miles inland fromt he coast how much a Cat 2 would effect Jacksonville, I was stunned.  The Airbase would be incapcitated being so close to the river and all, so don't think that all of Florida is like that. Every year Jacksonvile puts a map of all the areas that would be affected by flooding and when and where to evacuate when whatever Cat hurricane hits.

This is placed out everywhere at the beginning of the hurricane season In Jacksonville every year and updates are added each year.
