I was looking at the WV and noticed that an UL jet was on the SW side of the center, running NW to SE.
It could have come from the convective flare over the Yucatan that is now washing out.
Direction of the jet is in opposition to UL outflow, which as you mentioned is inhibiting ramp up.
Will be interesting to see if it persists.
