D,
Although an upper anticyclonic outflow is lacking, deep layer moisture, high oceanic heat content and moderate vertical 850-500mb vorticity have been sufficient to sustain convection and form a TC as was the case with Bret!!! . Current upper air dynamics are weak, with an inverted upper trough across the southern gulf and a strong upper high over the US. This feature is forecast to keep a moderate easterly 200-300mb flow which normally is not favorable, but a WNW track @ 15-20mph would keep the center moving with the vertical flow and aid the disturbance.
The system has its work cut-out in the days ahead, shear and possibly the northern yucatan.
If the trend continues, the NHC will increase prob today as a TD maybe forming. Pressures around the nearest bouy was down to 29.84. !! |
