Here is a picture on a typical day, taken earlier this month of some stand up paddle boarders:



I'm not sure specifically how high it is though. The total water rise, including the extra high tide, is probably approaching 4 feet. The water got to nearly where Frances was and I figured out when that happened that is was about about half way up to what it would take to flood me.

As you can see from one of the pictures though, some homes are a little lower in the neighborhood over. In an actual hurricane, we have to leave. This is an oddball tropical storm. Imagine what an actual hurricane would do, even a category one positioned right.

I also talked to someone today in my neighborhood about making sure they evacuate early when we get a more powerful storm. One reason being, it doesn't take much before most cars can't leave our neighborhood. At the worst, when lots of people's cars were getting stalled, the water was probably around two feet deep in the shallowest places at our front entrance, probably nearly an extra foot if you get too close to the storm drain.
