| I hear you, and you're absolutely right to be concerned. I just would caution people against using the phrase "repeat scenario," as it may cause undue panic. Isaac has not shown us the slightest indication that he is in any way capable of attaining the awesome power Katrina reached. NHC's podcast tonight calls for cat 2 at landfall. Katrina, though a 3 at landfall, brought Cat 5-type storm surge ashore because she had previously been a Cat 5 and not enough time had elapsed for the surge to come down when the pressure rose shortly before landfall. Isaac does not seem that he ever will get nearly that powerful, so the surge should not present a "repeat scenario." It still will be a very serious issue, though, because this is a large storm that therefore will be capable of moving a massive amount of water. |
