TCCOR 3!

The 18th Wing declared Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness Three about an hour ago - that means we're about 48 hours away from "the show" (winds in excess of 50 knots). Jelawat is still on track to arrive around Saturday afternoon. Time to go take a look at that grill and those ruptured sandbags and convince yourself you've got PLENTY of time to take care of business. Capture that moment so you can relive it as you watch your grill take off down the street through the rapidly rising water headed toward your unprotected front door sometime Saturday ...

I was just with a close Okinawan friend (who's lived here for 70 years and is not prone to exaggeration). When I asked him about the coming storm, he told me, "Hmmm. Pretty oki, Stormy-san. Nine-zero-five hector pascals. Pretty big, pretty big! Heh, heh, heh!" (You have to know Tokomura-san to realize how funny that is). Anyway, even though Jelawat is looking pretty ragged right now, if Tokomura-sensei thinks this storm is "pretty big" .... I'm taking it seriously. You should too. :)

Stay tuned, stay safe! Stormy
